    Dear Sir, dear Madam,

    Actually working in France on US American history, I come to you with a need of precision. Could you explain the reason Warfled’s book The Inspiration and the Authority of the Bible was published after his death, in 1948. Do you know other editions of this book?

    Thank you so much, have a nice day,

    Jean-Luc Rolland

      Dear Jean-Luc, Warfield’s book is a collection of articles that he wrote for various journals. All of the ten volumes of his works, published by Oxford, are collections of his articles. He only wrote a few books during his life. The Oxford edition of his writings on the inspiration and authority of Scripture is not identical with the volume published by Presbyterian and Reformed Publishing Co. After the original Oxford edition went out of print, P&R got permission to publish a selection from the ten volume set in five volumes. Some changes were made in the content of P&R’s edition.

    Does anyone know where I can find a good download-able pdf of “The Emotional Life of our Lord.”? Thanks

    This list would be even more helpful if it was arranged chronologically and aa distinction between what books were written and published during his lifetime, which, if any, were written by him but only published afterward, and which are mere collections of his works mde posthumously.

    I am wondering if someone here could help me find a work allegedly by Warfield. In Benjamin Wilkinson’s “Our Authorized Bible Vindicated” he cites “Dr. benjamin Warfield of Princeton university. Collection of Opinions and Reviews, Vol. II” and attributes this quote (apparently) to Warfield;

    “I have been surprised, in comparing the Revised Testament with other versions, to find how many of the changes, which are important and valuable, have been anticipated by the Rhemish translation, which now forms a part of what is known as the Douay Bible….And yet a careful comparison of these new translations with the Rhemish Testament, shows them, in many instances, to be simply a return to this old version, and leads us to think that possibly there were as finished scholars three hundred years ago as now, and nearly as good apparatus for the proper rendering of the original text.”

    He cites Pg 52-53 of the above work. But I can find neither that work nor that quote in anything by Warfield. I suspect it has been misattributed. Can anyone help?

      Is anyone able to help with this request? The same work is elsewhere referred in the above book, citing Warfield as saying, “It is known that among modern versions they consulted was an Italian, and though no name is mentioned, there cannot be room for doubt that it was the elegant translation made with great ability from the original Scriptures by Giovanni Diodati, which had only recently (1607) appeared at Geneva. (Dr. Benjamin Warfield, Princeton Univ., Collection of Opinions and Reviews, Vol. 2, p. 99.). I am still curious about this source, and if there may be some once known and now lost work of Warfield being referred to?
